I have a bookcase full of Playbills and programs for operas, ballet,
musicals, plays, etc., from places like Moscow, Vienna, New York,
Philadelphia and other locales. They date from about 1970 to the
present. They have to go. I need the space. There is a trove of
information here for art historians (who danced or sang what or stood in
for whom on which night?). Many have ticket stubs attached. Track
theatrical inflation. Some have the cast substitution slips telling you
the artist you especially wanted to see won't be there tonight. I don't
want to throw these away so I am putting them all, bit by bit, on eBay.
Many are being listed alone or, for example, a souvenir program along
with the Playbill, or two proragms for two different Viennese Balls.
Many more will be offered in batches, like fifteen programs from the
Vienna Staatsoper or Volksoper or Metropolitaan OPera or Carnegie Hall.
It is taking awhile to get through this stuff and I will put up a few
every day until they are all done.
If you want to see what's there, go to eBay Search>Advanced>Seller and
type in "PrinceMyshkin" in the Seller box.
I am not making any money off this, folks. So far, listing fees have
totalled a lot more than I have earned and I don't expect that to
change. It's a limited market for low intrinsic value items, priceless
to the right person but trash to everyone else. And there are few right
persons to bid them up. But I can't see just tossing them in the trash.
